Backline Festival aims to create more opportunities for young people to experience, participate in and contribute to Liverpool’s thriving live music scene.
As a student-led festival, we want to provide a professional platform for both established artists and emerging local talent, giving performers the opportunity to reach new audiences while celebrating the diverse range of music coming from Liverpool and beyond.
A key aim of Backline Festival is to give students hands-on experience of working within the live events industry. From production and technical roles to marketing, artist liaison, event management and front-of-house operations, the festival provides a practical environment where students can develop valuable skills and gain experience working alongside industry professionals.
We also aim to strengthen connections between education, the creative industries and the wider community. By working with local organisations, charities, artists, venues and industry professionals, Backline Festival hopes to create meaningful opportunities that continue beyond the festival itself.
Most importantly, we want Backline Festival to be a celebration of live music, creativity and the people who make Liverpool’s music community what it is — while helping inspire the next generation of artists, event professionals and creatives.
